Colours and Textiles

There are no records providing information about the colours and textiles used in the Lodi masquerade. The studies by Shergold and Varey, Representaciones Palaciegas 1603-1699, based on documentary research on theatre at the Spanish court, provide a useful indicator of the textiles most frequently mentioned in the sources. These include taffeta, satin, colonia (a type of silk ribbon), rasilla (a lightweight wool, or wool and silk cloth), and feathers. The most popular colours were whites, pearl, silver, blues and pomegranate red.
